Ilsan Lake Park - Hidden Treasure near Seoul

Seoul has a bunch of nature to offer, mainly due to all the mountains in there. But, it’s cities nearby that can give you the unique experience, away from tourist crowds and full of peace. A place that I randomly found was Ilsan’s Lake Park, so here I will write about my day there.

I was staying in Sinchon at the time I went there, and it took me only 1 hour by bus to get to the park.
The day was very hot and sunny, as expected during summer in Korea! I grabbed my umbrella, hand fan and waited for the bus.

I noticed that the buses in Korea (ones that go between the cities, longer routes) are extremely comfortable - the seats are huge, soft and adjustable. I leaned back and enjoyed my short trip.

Once I got off, I only walked for a moment with help of the Naver Maps and arrived at the park’s entrance.
First element I noticed were painted benches - it was very whimsical, I loved it!

As I walked forward, I arrived at huge pavement space with a view of the big lake and tall buildings behind it. The panorama was astonishing.

I walked around and ended up laying down on the stones bench. It was very peaceful and comfortable. I covered my head with umbrella due to heat and had a long rest.

After that, I got up and got to walking - since the park is pretty big, there was a lot to see!
I haven’t seen any foreigners. There were some Koreans, especially couples and I have to agree, the area was romantic and looked like a perfect date spot.

As I followed the path, I started to notice interesting decorations, such as the ones on the picture below. I really loved that!

Next, I got on a stone bridge with a fascinating view. There was ton of flora, but also koi fish! I had no idea there would be any. How gorgeous were they?! 🐠

Then, I arrived at a gorgeous, historical view point. Not only it looked wonderful from the ground, but after walking on top, I was able to admire views of the lake all around.

Moving forward, I got hungry and it was lunch time. Luckily, the Ilsan Lake Park has a CU! It’s perfect to get ramen, snack or drink and enjoy the sunset. I grabbed a drink and a curly potato with cheese powder ☺️

Once I had my snack, I was ready to keep walking. Honestly, the park kept getting more and more beautiful with each step I took. I walked along the lake and came across this swing bench - how romantic is it? It’s one of my favorite photos I took throughout my entire trip.

I ended up sitting nearby and reading the book I brought. For a good while, I immersed myself in the lecture with gentle nature sounds around me.
Once it started getting dark, I got to watch the sunset. It was the most perfect ending to my day. I believe a park like this was the most perfect spot to enjoy sky looking so colorful and breathtaking.

After that, I had to walk for a little bit to the bus stop, but I eventually made it and arrived back at my hotel.
It was a very memorable day and I can’t wait to visit the park during my upcoming Korea trip. I believe it’s not well-known and that’s what makes it special. Ilsan Lake Park is the most perfect place to hang out with a friend, have a date or simply enjoy your day on your own, like I did ☺️
