Hi girls! On this trip to Seoul, I made a super bold but also the smartest decision, getting a haircut at the famous AM:TON flagship store in Hongdae!
Whenever I watch K-dramas or follow K-pop idols, I always wonder how Korean girls’ hair can look so natural and voluminous, yet still have that hard-to-describe, upscale vibe. I did a ton of research online and found that AM:TON flagship store in the Hongdae area has insanely high ratings. It’s not only a landmark salon founded by a celebrity hair and makeup artist, it’s also a go-to hidden gem for lots of local Korean unnis. As someone who acts fast, of course I had to schedule a “K-style makeover” before heading back to Taiwan!
In this fresh-off-the-press blog post, I’m going to share everything in detail, from online booking, to in-person consultation, to the final result. If you’re thinking about doing your hair in Seoul, save this right now!

💻 Step 1: Why book on Creatrip? It’s so easy and worry-free. Before traveling, my biggest concerns were “language barriers” and “booking being a hassle.” Then I realized the big-name platform Creatrip lets you book AM:TON directly, it was seriously a lifesaver!
1. Full Traditional Chinese interface: No need to stare at Korean and guess, the packages, prices, and notes are all clearly explained.
2. Transparent pricing, no surprises: Booking through Creatrip makes it less likely you’ll run into random price markups on-site, and sometimes you can even get exclusive online discounts.
3. Skip the waiting line: For popular salons in Seoul, if you don’t have an appointment, you basically can’t get in. Just pick your date and time online, pay the deposit, and once you receive the confirmation email, you’re all set. On the day, simply show your Creatrip reservation voucher on your phone, and the front desk checks it in seconds. For foreign travelers, the smoothness is a perfect score!

🏡 First look at AM:TON flagship store:
A stunning white villa tucked in the Hongdae alleys. AM:TON flagship store is located in Hongdae, the trend capital. That day I followed the map, and from far away I could already see a standalone, pure white villa packed with design details. From the outside, it looked like a high-end cafe, it totally flipped my impression of a traditional hair salon!
Inside, the lighting was incredible. Large floor-to-ceiling windows let sunlight pour in, and the decor was minimalist with a creamy Korean aesthetic. The moment I walked in, the staff warmly took my coat and bag, locked them in a locker for me, then handed me the locker key and a cup of iced Americano (in Korea I really drink iced Americanos every day, and I didn’t expect the salon coffee to be this good!).
While waiting in the lounge area, I looked around and honestly almost everyone was a stylish local Korean unni, plus a few oppas who came along with their girlfriends for a makeover. I immediately felt this solid sense of “Yep, I came to the right place.”

✂️ The main experience: the subtle magic of a top-tier Korean stylist
After about five minutes, my stylist came over to greet me. Before the trip, what I was most nervous about was communication, because my Korean is basically at the “annyeonghaseyo” level.
But there’s truly nothing to worry about!
1. Photos are a universal language: I saved a few Korean hairstyle photos I liked on Instagram in advance. The stylist took one look and immediately got it, with a professional “I’ve got you” smile.
2. Detailed hair texture and face-shape analysis: She gently ran her hands through my hair, checking my hair growth pattern, volume on both sides, and my face shape. Even though we mainly communicated with simple English plus gestures, she accurately pointed out my issues: “flat roots, ends that are too heavy, and it makes your face look less defined.”
3. Personalized recommendations: She suggested not taking off too much length today, and instead using a “Korean layered cut (Layered Cut)” to flatter my face shape, plus giving me the “curtain bangs” I’ve been dreaming of to soften my cheekbones.
💆‍♂️ A shampoo experience like a spa. After we finished discussing, they took me to wash my hair first. The shampoo chair at Korean salons is super ergonomic, I almost fell asleep the moment I lay back. The assistant’s technique was gentle but firm, and the shampoo had an upscale herbal scent. The best surprise was that after shampooing, they also included an essential oil scalp and neck massage. All that exhaustion from walking 20,000 steps a day on this trip was instantly healed.
💇‍♀️ A smooth, precise cutting process. Back at my seat, the main show started. Watching a Korean stylist cut hair is honestly like watching an art performance! Her movements were so delicate, not a rough one-cut approach, but carefully adjusting the layers strand by strand.
Especially when working on the curtain bangs and face-framing pieces, she was intensely focused, making tiny adjustments along my facial lines. As she cut, she explained in simple English, “Add layers here, and when you blow-dry at home, it’ll naturally curve.” That kind of thoughtfulness is such a big plus!

✨ Stunning result: Is this really me?
After the cut and blow-dry, the stylist used a curling iron for the final styling. The moment the mirror turned to face me, I was screaming inside: “Oh my god! This is exactly the soft, Korean-style look I imagined!”
My long hair, which used to look flat and lifeless, became incredibly light and full of shape after AM:TON’s layered refinement. The most impressive part was the curtain bangs, the curve was perfect and it flattered my face shape so well. My face instantly looked smaller, and my features looked more defined and polished!
Before checkout, the stylist patiently taught me step-by-step in front of the mirror how to use a large roller to style my bangs at home, and how to blow-dry against the roots to keep that volume. She really wasn’t worried about customers not knowing how to style it afterward, so genuinely kind.

💬 Final thoughts and honest review: Is it worth going?
For this haircut experience at AM:TON flagship store, I’m giving it 4.9 stars (out of 5)!
1. Pros: A cafe-like beautiful space, the stylist’s aesthetic is on point and there’s zero hard selling, very friendly to foreigners, and the layers are extremely face-flattering.
2. Small note: It’s busier during popular time slots, so I strongly recommend booking your time on Creatrip early, so it won’t affect your shopping plans afterward.
I used to think getting a haircut in Hong Kong was good enough, but after this experience, I truly feel Korean stylists have a unique, almost god-tier sense of beauty when it comes to “volume” and “face-framing details.” Next time I’m in Seoul, I’m definitely booking their color and perm services too! If you’re also planning to visit Hongdae in Seoul, treat yourself to a glow-up stop and go experience AM:TON’s authentic Korean hair magic!
