Trip to Korea

This was my Korea trip in April.
I departed Narita at 8:55 a.m. and arrived at Incheon Airport before noon. Thanks to SES, immigration was super quick, and since I only had carry-on luggage, I was able to leave the airport right away.
I took a bus to Apgujeong.
I dropped my bags at the hotel, and it was around 1 p.m. Then I headed to a Naengmyeon place for lunch.

When you think of Naengmyeon in Apgujeong, this place comes up a lot, so I decided to try it. The inside was pretty spacious and there weren’t many customers.
I ordered mul Naengmyeon? and bibim noodles.

This was seriously delicious! The noodles are super thin, almost like somen, but still nice and chewy, and more than anything, the broth was insanely good!!! Like a drinkable stock. It also had pear in it as an accent, the kind of flavor that makes you want to eat it again. The bibim noodles were just normally spicy.
After eating, I walked around Apgujeong.
Atelier Nain

Lots of nice, polished-looking clothes.

Takeout-only salt bread
I picked some up for breakfast the next morning.
They had the times posted for when they serve it freshly baked, and depending on the time it can get super crowded. The whole area around the shop smelled amazing, like fresh bread.

I also wanted yogurt, so I grabbed some at a yogurt shop.

And then dinner. I originally planned to go to a honey makgeolli place in Sinsa, but this spot was close to my hotel and it looked like they also had honey makgeolli, so I figured, this works, and went in. Apparently it was featured on Japan’s NHK too.

At the Sinsa place, it sounds like they bring out a whole honeycomb from a box one by one, but here they serve it already in a cup. It was bigger than I expected.

I also ordered shrimp and minari jeon, plus a Korean fish cake hot pot.

So makgeolli is lightly sparkling. And once the honey dissolves, it’s just perfect. I could drink it so easily. But I’m not that strong with alcohol, so I couldn’t drink that much.
Purple sweet potato was trending too, so they also had purple makgeolli and things like that.

I was craving something sweet, and while I was walking I found a scone shop. I figured if they’d won a Blue Ribbon, it couldn’t be wrong, so I went in. There were lots of different kinds, and each one was huge. It felt like a Costco chocolate chunk cookie.

End of day 1!
