Curious about とよ's travel plans?
Seoul 3-day Trip2026-05-09 ~ 2026-05-11
I’d always wanted to go someday, but I’d kept walking right past Changdeokgung Palace. Such an overwhelming presence.
This time, I found a wonderful tour with limited nighttime access, booked it on Creatrip, and joined in. It’s a rare opportunity.
We met in the early evening, while the sun still hadn’t set.
We were each given a receiver to hear the tour details, and one lantern per person 🏮
A beautiful lantern

A cool gate

“Yangban”, a word I’ve heard in dramas and things.
Stones that show rank

And the ceiling, how beautiful it was. I couldn’t stop staring. The patterns and chandeliers were each different, you could really feel the attention to detail.

A rare chance to take our time and really look
It felt like stepping back through history.
The guide’s explanations were fantastic and full of humor, and the place kept bursting into laughter now and then.
The illuminated scenery reflected in the water like a mirror. Absolutely stunning.
I was glad it didn’t rain and we had good weather, too.
With the king and queen

Moving on through a round gate

Beautiful flute tones echoing through

Tried climbing up the stairs

As the tour went on, it got darker, and the illuminated views were so beautiful.
And amazingly, that day we could even take photos with the king and queen. I didn’t take one, but everyone else was excitedly taking pictures together 📸
Near the end of the tour was a four-part, show-like palace culture festival called “The Emperor’s Table”.
You can choose whichever you like from two kinds of tea, and it also comes with tea sweets.

So cute, and delicious. I almost felt bad eating it.
The cushions are cute too.

It felt like watching a palace performance, such a dreamlike time
The costumes are beautiful too

Songs, instrumental music, and dance.

At the end, we even got a gift like this.
They really thought of everything.

It ended around 9 pm.
It was a wonderful tour that really stayed with me.
I’d love to try joining other palace events too.
