[Korea, Hongdae] My first jjimjilbang experience report 🧖‍♀️🐑
Annyeonghaseyo! I’m Natsu, now in my third year living in Korea˚ 🦢₊✧
Make the most of a jjimjilbang with yangmeori (sheep head towel wrap) and smoked eggs 🤭 I’ll also share how to go for a great deal ✨
When you think of Korea, you can’t skip the jjimjilbang 🇰🇷
You see them all the time in K-dramas too, right? 🎀➳
This time, I went to a jjimjilbang in Seoul’s youth district, Hongdae!
To jump straight to the conclusion...
It was “way more fun than I imagined, and such a healing space.” 🥹
First, a little stroll around Hongdae!

Hongdae is close to the AREX, and the location is just so convenient! ꉂꉂ🙊💓
And this is where I arrived!
Hongdae Bulgama (Hot Kiln) Sauna 🧡🧡

It’s in the basement, so take the elevator down, go go!
Text editor image
It felt really local, with lots of locals around!
The price is 12,000 won for jjimjilbang (Korean-style sauna, heated stone rooms) on weekday daytime, plus 2,000 won for the jjimjil clothes,
so 14,000 won total, but if you book on Creatrip, it’s actually cheaper than paying on-site, you can book at a discount! 🫧ྀི

With membership, it’s under 1,000 yen including the jjimjil clothes!!
Another great point is that if you reserve, even if you don’t speak Korean, you can just show the screen to the staff!
Alright! Now that we’re in, next we change into the jjimjil clothes and enjoy the sauna!

Orange 🍊🍊 lol

Leave your belongings in a locker and head out!

The kiln rooms look like this, and they were burning aromatics inside!
Text editor image
They also have massage chairs! These require an extra fee! ✨️
And then,
🐑 A Korean classic! I tried the sheep head style!!
Text editor image
This is the thing when it comes to Korean jjimjilbangs, right?!
The “sheep head (yangmeori)” made by wrapping a towel 🐏
It’s a little tricky at first, but it’s surprisingly easy! 🍀*゜
It looks great in photos and instantly makes you feel like you’re in Korea, so I 100 percent want you to try it!
-------
🥚 Smoked eggs and sikhye are a must!
Text editor image
This is what I absolutely want you to eat inside 👇
・Smoked boiled eggs
・Sikhye (sweet rice drink)
This combo is such a classic set in Korea ✨
The lightly smoky egg pairs perfectly with the gently sweet sikhye, it was too perfect as a snack while rehydrating 🥹
And this jjimjilbang even had Hangang River ramen! ✨️

Ramen is honestly the best no matter when you eat it 🦔ྀི🦔ྀི!
🧖‍♀️ So what do you actually do at a jjimjilbang?
At a jjimjilbang, you can enjoy:
・Saunas (rooms at various temperatures)
・Baths
・Lounging around in the relaxation area
・Meals and snacks
・Body scrubs
・Massages
Basically, lots of different things! 🐯ྀི
Plus, since many are open 24 hours, some people even go at night as a hotel alternative! 🐑ྀི You can also bathe, so I think it’s a good option too! 🫧ྀི
It’s great with friends, and totally enjoyable solo too ◎
💡 How to go for a great deal (important)
Like I mentioned briefly earlier, this time I booked through
Creatrip
Honestly it was really good 👇
✔︎ Often cheaper than the regular price
✔︎ You can book in Japanese
✔︎ It’s reassuring to secure popular facilities in advance
If you’re planning to visit a jjimjilbang during your Korea trip,
I highly recommend booking ahead 🙆‍♀️
✍️ Summary
✔︎ An easy way to experience Korean culture in Hongdae
✔︎ The sheep head towel wrap and smoked eggs are a must
✔︎ Jjimjilbangs are a “healing plus entertainment space”
✔︎ Booking on Creatrip lets you enjoy it for less ✨

If you come to Korea, it’s a place I definitely want you to visit at least once 🥹
Going at night and relaxing is also such a great idea! 🌙
Everyone, please go check it out! 🐈ྀི
