Myeongdong is a must-stop area for many people visiting Seoul.
This place, Taecho Galbi (태초갈비), has been introduced on IG: taecho_myeongdong by travelers from all over the world,
so you know it is the real deal!
Korean BBQ is honestly something different people all feel you have to eat when you come to Korea!
It is close to Myeongdong Station Exit 8, so if you have Myeongdong on your itinerary, you really, really should come give it a try.
📍 Address: Seoul Jung-gu Myeongdong 10-gil 18, 6F, Room 601
⏰ Hours: 12:00 to 23:00, last order at 22:00
The interior is spacious and comfortable, with a decent amount of space between tables. It is not private rooms, but I still felt like there was plenty of personal space while dining. I visited at lunchtime that day,
and the sunlight coming through their windows made the place feel even more open and bright.
I saw families there, and also groups of friends having a meal together. After walking around, it is definitely a great place to relax, eat, and chat.
Since it was my first time, of course I asked the staff for recommendations.
The staff recommended their signature set, the Taecho Set for 2 to 3 people,

If you want to try different cuts and flavors all at once,
you can order this too,
it comes with four items:
Taecho Rip, 2 pieces,
hanwoo Galbi, 130g,
hanwoo Chuck flap tail, 100g,
Brick-Cut Galbi.
"Taecho Rip" is Taecho Galbi’s signature. It is premium beef ribs aged at low temperature for 100 hours. It is known for being tender and packed with a rich, savory sauce aroma. Before serving, the staff sears it over charcoal with a burst of flame, so it is super juicy.
If you order this, make sure you go over to watch the “flame charcoal-grilling” process!

"hanwoo Galbi" refers to galbi made with hanwoo, mainly using the rib section, it is top-tier hanwoo that basically melts in your mouth.
"hanwoo Chuck flap tail" uses hanwoo chuck flap tail (shoulder cap tail/under-shoulder blade flap), a cut from the chuck (shoulder) area, usually located where the neck and ribs connect. Because this part gets a lot of movement, it has a deep beefy flavor, plus fine marbling similar to ribeye, tender but still pleasantly chewy.
"Brick-Cut Galbi" uses beef ribs cut thick, which gives it a satisfying bite. The sauce does not overpower the fresh flavor of the hanwoo itself, so it tastes sweet, fresh, and rich.
Whether you like meat that is tender and naturally sweet, or you are more into heavier marbling, you can try it all in this set.
And you do not have to worry about how well each cut should be cooked,
because the staff will grill everything perfectly for you.

This set also comes with a main dish, hanwoo beef porridge.
The chili seasoning is concentrated on the surface,
so if you cannot handle spicy food like me,
just do not mix it in at first.

If you like raw dishes, you can also add Raw Beef with Water Parsley. I personally really liked it (I like raw beef in general).
The raw beef is smooth and tender, and the crunchy water parsley helps cut through any heaviness.

That is it for my quick intro, if you are going to Seoul, you should check this place out too!
