Seoul 5-day Trip5 Days
2026 Say Goodbye to Glasses~
For Lunar New Year 2026, I planned a 10-day trip to Korea for two adults and two kids, this is my third visit to Seoul Station

Transportation and restaurants in Korea are relatively kid-friendly, the subways are dense, and the accessible elevators inside subway stations are very clearly marked
Also, plane tickets during Lunar New Year are relatively cheaper than to Japan, about 37,000 for four people (including a baby)
Really great for travel

Back to the topic, my main reason for coming to Korea this time was to have refractive eye surgery, my roommate had the procedure three years ago in Taiwan, even though it was pretty expensive
But it's really so convenient~
During the first seven days of this trip, we mainly took the kids to Everland, Legoland Korea, Myeongdong, and rented Hanbok at Gyeongbokgung (second visit). On the eighth day we finally did something different
I've worn glasses since high school, and they've caused so many inconveniences in my daily life
Difficulty seeing far away
Reading the blackboard, presentations, and signs is all blurry
It's hard to see bus numbers and store signs outdoors
👉 Need to keep wearing glasses or contact lenses
Exercise is inconvenient
Playing ball or running can be affected when glasses slip or fall off
Wearing contact lenses can also feel dry or uncomfortable
When I dance (I really like aerobics classes) my glasses tend to slip and fall off
Rain and temperature swings are a real hassle
Glasses fog up in the rain
Fogging up when moving from an air-conditioned room to outdoors
👉 Vision suddenly got worse, it’s very inconvenient
Woke up half-blind 😅
Can barely see clearly without glasses
Can't see my toes when I shower
Fumbling for your phone or checking the time
Eyes get more tired after long periods of use
Eyes get sore, dry, and tired easily
Especially noticeable when using a phone or computer
Administrative work involves heavy, long-term use of the eyes
After having a child, all the curiosity about mom wearing glasses turns into endless pulling and tugging?!
Alright, let's have the surgery! Say goodbye to glasses!!

Show the hospital's professionalism and credibility
Location: Next to Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 8, Kyobo Tower 15th floor, arrive immediately on the right after exiting
Procedure method: chose SMILE (small‑incision lenticule extraction) (small incision, quicker recovery)
Child care: This was one of the most stressful parts of the trip, but luckily we found a nearby subway station, Jamsil Station, and there are department stores nearby where teammates can take the kids for a bit
The kid had so much fun at the department store they didn’t want to leave XD
Post-op sharing: For the first two hours after the procedure I felt uncomfortable, my eyes were sore, then everything became bright XD (a watery, foggy feeling is more noticeable at night, during the day I could mostly see clearly)
Then I had to take the subway alone to meet up with my teammates, it felt really uncomfortable
The next morning I had a follow-up appointment, so while everyone was still asleep I quietly took the subway back for the check-up, which was finished in about half an hour.
Afterword: My only regret is that if I had known how affordable prices in Korea are, I should have had refractive eye surgery sooner XD
The most important Korean fried chicken on this trip

Our ten-day family trip to Seoul Station was a smooth, successful getaway

I hope there’s a next trip to Korea soon~~
