Real experience of getting SMILE myopia laser surgery plus dry eye treatment in South Korea

Before getting LASIK in Korea this time, I actually researched it for a very long time. Because my eyes are usually dry and I spend long hours staring at screens, I was especially worried about postoperative dry eye. Later I discovered that this clinic not only has new equipment and very experienced doctors, but also offers an enhanced 'dry eye treatment' plan, so I decided to bravely make an appointment and give it a try.

As soon as I entered the clinic, the environment was more comfortable than I imagined; the overall design is bright and clean, with a kind of upscale, cozy feeling. There was a translator on site who accompanied me the whole time, providing real-time translation from the examination to the consultation, so I didn’t have to worry about language issues at all, which made me feel very reassured throughout the entire process.
There were a lot of preoperative examinations, including corneal thickness, intraocular pressure, tear distribution, and pupil response; the whole set took almost an hour. The doctor recommended the most suitable surgical approach based on each person's eye condition. I ultimately chose the SMILE minimally invasive laser procedure, plus dry eye treatment; it cost a bit more than a standard SMILE, but I thought it was well worth it.

I was actually pretty nervous on the day of the surgery, but the doctor and the interpreter kept reassuring me. The whole procedure was over in about 10 minutes and I felt no pain, only a slight pressure. Because the SMILE procedure is minimally invasive, the recovery time is much shorter than with traditional laser surgery.

My vision became clear immediately after the surgery — it really felt like “everything is ultra HD”! The clinic also provided a dry eye treatment device to help with repair, and my eyes felt moist and comfortable, not dry like they used to be when I wore contact lenses.

After resting at the hotel for a few hours, I was able to move around freely, and the next day I could even go shopping and take photos. My vision recovered much faster than expected. My experience having SMILE laser eye surgery for myopia combined with dry eye treatment in Korea made me feel that the medical technique and service were both excellent, and there was none of the fear or discomfort I had imagined before.
If, like me, you wear contact lenses long-term, have dry eyes, and want to get rid of glasses, I really recommend considering the SMILE procedure combined with dry eye treatment! Compared with having only laser surgery, this kind of plan helped me recover faster and more comfortably.
