Among the endless list of beauty experiences such as skin analysis, color analysis, getting fitted for glasses, scalp treatments, hair cuts, skin treatments, massages, spas etc, I would highly recommend getting a manicure and while you’re at it, a pedicure also while in Seoul.
There are so many Seoul nail salons out there, offering a variety of designs, aesthetics, and price points. You really can’t go wrong with any of them if you aren’t too selective and just want to indulge in any form of nail self care. However, if you have a specific vision or color scheme in mind, I recommend you go on social media and visit the various SNS accounts of different nail salons and nail art artists. Check to see if their designs match your vibe, taste, and budget.
I stumbled upon 5x5 Nail Studio through browsing a ton of reels and posts and kept seeing their work displayed over and over. The designs are so creative and aesthetically pleasing.

Every month they release new designs for you to pick from and you can also choose from previous months designs as well. Their SNS account details the inspiration behind each design and they post really clear pictures of actual clients’ nails so you can see pretty much what you’re getting. However, because each nail artist differs in their creative process slightly, you won’t get exactly what someone else who chooses the same set gets, so there’s a bit of a uniqueness to each manicure.

The booking process is quite easy. You first contact them through DMs and answer a list of questions. You have to commit to their pricing prior to booking. Once all the details are confirmed, you pay a deposit (and if you’re a foreigner, it’s quite easy, it’s through Paypal.). Plan for a large chunk of time, roughly 2 hours for manicure and 1 hour for pedicure. You’ll be given a slate of designs to choose from. For a pedicure, they don’t have a color wheel so you can just explain the color you want or show them pictures of the shades you’re thinking of. You can decide which design goes on which finger, or you can have the nail tech choose for you.

It’s easy to communicate in English what your preferences are, and it’s quite enjoyable to watch them at work. It’s amazing how they can transform everyday boring nails to literal works of art. The manicure and pedicures are quite sturdy. Even after a solid month, my nails still look amazing and I’m sad for the day they will grow out too long and I’ll have to have them removed. I’m already looking forward to my next trip to Seoul where one of the first stops I’ll make is to get my nails done, preferably at 5x5 Nail Studio!
