I’m a Japanese woman traveler who’s confident in English, and I love exploring Korea and finding delicious food along the way. Recently, I had the chance to visit Jeju Island, and I discovered a wonderful spot called Yeonghae Sikdang. This time, I’d like to share my thoughts on the delicious dishes I tried there with you all.
Yeonghae Sikdang is a long-established restaurant that’s been in business for 60 years, loved by locals in Mosulpo, Jeju Island. Their signature menu items are Meat Soup (8,000 won) and Bibim Naengmyeon (8,000 won).

Meat Soup (8,000 won) / Bibim Naengmyeon (8,000 won)
The Meat Soup comes with plenty of thick-cut meat. It’s a simple combination of rich meat broth with onions, scallions, and meat, but the flavor is outstanding. The spice level is mild, so it’s easy to enjoy for a wide range of palates. The scallions served on the side are even more delicious when eaten together with the soup.
The Bibim Naengmyeon is similar to Korean chewy noodles or ramen, but it has its own unique character. There are large chunks of ice in it, making it incredibly refreshing. The meat portions are generous, the egg is fresh, and overall it’s very satisfying.

The side dishes at Yeonghae Sikdang are also delicious. Perilla leaf jangajji, chili pepper jangajji, mushrooms, kimchi, namul, and more, most of them are made with local ingredients from Jeju Island.
I also recommend ordering suyuk (boiled pork) along with your meal. It’s perfect for sharing and sampling. Dipped in chogochujang, it’s tender and delicious. There’s no porky smell at all, which I really liked.
Finally, if you’re visiting Jeju Island, be sure to stop by Yeonghae Sikdang and enjoy some amazing food. It’ll be an unforgettable food experience where you can savor the unique flavors of this beautiful island.
