'Guide to visiting Korean drama filming locations in Jeonju'

Jeonju has always been on my must-visit list in Korea even before I came to Korea. Coincidentally, I just finished watching the popular Korean drama 'Twenty-Five Twenty-One' and many of its filming locations were in Jeonju! So I planned a two-day and one-night trip to visit the drama filming locations and enjoy a slow-paced trip. This time, I took a slow approach to sightseeing and itinerary planning because perhaps I will want to visit Jeonju again after the weather turns cold (saving some attractions for a reason to return ☺)
The Jeonju Station is truly very Korean! The exterior of the station is traditional Korean architecture (no wonder Jeonju City is known for its Hanok Village), and it takes about 2.5 hours by KTX from Seoul to Jeonju Station.

Top recommended attraction in Jeonju: '경기전'
After finishing our first meal, we headed to the most famous Hanok village in Jeonju. Our first stop was '경기전', which became so famous later on because of the Korean drama '구르미 그린 달빛 (Moonlight Drawn by Clouds)' - Prince Bo-gum shot scenes here! The Record Hall and Bamboo Forest Road are frequently seen shooting locations in the drama, and 'Queen Under the Sun' was also filmed here! '경기전' is a popular spot for tourists to take photos, especially with the Bamboo Forest Road, where you might have to queue up for a picture... Also, there's a highlight inside the '경기전' complex called the 'Royal Portrait Museum (어진박물관)' which became a new attraction in Jeonju after opening in November 2010. You can visit the museum for free without any admission fee. The museum is divided into the first floor above ground and the first floor below ground. The above-ground first floor is a display space for the royal portraits of Kings, and is a display space with significant historical preservation value. It's very cool with air conditioning in the summer... you can escape the heat and also learn about Korean history.

Second Recommended Spot in Jeonju: Jeonju Hanok Village
When I used to read articles about Korean tourism in Taiwan, I often saw the panoramic view of the entire Hanok village in Jeonju, which became a place I always wanted to visit. This time, I finally saw the real thing. Jeonju Hanok Village is located in the area of Pungnam-dong and Gyo-dong in Jeonju. Walking through Jeonju Hanok Village gives a feeling of relaxation and vacation. The streets are lined with Hanok houses, and there is no trace of modern architecture, making it truly a 'slow city.' In addition to sightseeing, Jeonju Hanok Village also has many shopping streets where you can satisfy your cravings for food and shopping. Furthermore, many people choose to rent Hanbok to wear here, but I recommend doing so when the weather is cooler, as it will be more comfortable and make for better photos (the summer heat is definitely not a joke).

Recommended attraction in Jeonju: The filming location of Korean drama 'Twenty-Five Twenty-One : 나희도 집'
Located near the Hanok Village in the entire province, the location is relatively easy to find, but there is a small uphill climb to reach it. Walking in Korea is already a workout, so walking up this little slope is nothing! The appearance here is exactly the same as what was seen in the drama (but I didn't see the peeing child). The architecture itself is quite beautiful and suitable for taking pictures with the building. A friend next to me even suggested throwing a newspaper up (is that getting too into the drama?). It's unclear if anyone currently lives here, but there are still residents in the surrounding area, so please be mindful of your noise level when visiting. And because it's also a high point, you can overlook the village's appearance.
If you search for '나희도의 집' on the map, it will not appear, so here is the address for those who want to visit (please copy the Korean address to NAVER map and you will find it. Here is a little suggestion, please try to use NAVER map to search for various attractions and directions, although Google Maps has improved in Korea, stability is still being observed)

Top 5 Recommended Attractions in Jeonju: Filming Location of Korean Drama 'Twenty-Five Twenty-One : The Tunnel'
This spot is the tunnel that often appears in the Korean drama 'Twenty-Five Twenty-One'. It takes a little time to walk from the first spot, but the scenery along the way is very chill.
I seriously think this tunnel is super beautiful! Besides its dramatic effect, it's also a great place to use up your phone's storage (with a touch of desolate tranquility?). I'm really impressed that the Korean drama crew could find such an amazing location for filming! But be sure to watch out for cars when taking photos here, as it's located at a fork in the road next to a busy street!

Recommended Cuisine in Jeonju: Hanok House 한옥집
We found a very authentic Korean restaurant called '한옥집'! However, because the location of this restaurant is very remote and a bit inconvenient to get to, we took a taxi there. It takes about 10 minutes by taxi from Jeonju Station, but you can also get there by bus. However, please note the bus operating hours as the location is not in the city center! This restaurant specializes in grilled pork ribs ('돼지슻불갈비'), and of course, we ordered all the must-eats, presenting a rich Korean countryside dining table. I highly recommend their beef patties ('떡갈비'), which are very tender and juicy. In the end, the side dish I ate the most and asked the waiter to refill was the mixed vegetables ('잡채'), which had a very homely taste and went well with rice!

Recommended Coffee Shop in Jeonju: masirange
When we arrived in the province, Korea was already in summer, the weather was hot and humid to the extreme. After visiting Gyeongbokgung Palace, we went to a coffee shop called Masirange located next to the palace walls to cool off with a refreshing drink. This is a popular Instagram-worthy coffee shop because the second floor offers a view of the Gyeongbokgung Palace scenery and provides a photo spot for visitors to take certification photos. The photo spot looks... very dreamy, right? The background is Gyeongbokgung Palace (but in summer, it is too green and the traditional Korean buildings are blocked by trees).

Must-Visit KAKAO FRIENDS in Jeonju
KAKAO Friends is located near Gyeonggi Palace and Masirange, but why go to KAKAO Friends specifically? Isn't there a lot in Seoul? If you think that way, you are completely wrong! The interior and exterior of this KAKAO Friends store in the Jeonju Hanok Village are unique to all of Korea. Ryan and Muzi are wearing Hanbok and are really cute. Many of the products here are also exclusive to Jeonju and cannot be bought at other KAKAO Friends stores in Korea. Actually, this KAKAO Friends store has been on my must-visit list long before I came to Korea. I finally saw Hanbok Ryan in Jeonju! But I didn't accidentally buy anything (although the limited edition items are really cute... I can't guarantee that I won't buy anything next time I visit).
