The Hwacheon Sancheoneo Festival is an absolute must-visit if you find yourself in South Korea during the winter season. Nestled amidst the picturesque landscapes of Hwacheon County, this festival offers an unforgettable experience for all ages.
From the moment you arrive, you're greeted with a lively atmosphere filled with laughter and excitement. The frozen Hwacheon Stream transforms into a bustling hub of activity, with locals and tourists alike eagerly participating in ice fishing, sledding, and various winter sports.
One of the highlights of the festival is undoubtedly the Sancheoneo Ice Sculpture Exhibition, where talented artists showcase their intricate creations carved from ice. Walking through this icy wonderland feels like stepping into a fairytale.
Don't miss the chance to taste freshly caught sancheoneo (mountain trout) grilled on-site, a true delicacy that's bound to tantalize your taste buds. And for those seeking an adrenaline rush, the Polar Bear Swim offers an exhilarating plunge into icy waters - not for the faint-hearted but an experience you'll never forget!
Whether you're a nature enthusiast, a foodie, or simply looking for a unique cultural experience, the Hwacheon Sancheoneo Festival has something for everyone. Bundle up, embrace the cold, and immerse yourself in the magic of this winter wonderland. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

A fun festival. Activities included such things as ice fishing, bare handed fishing, sledding, and ice skating. If you catch a fish, you can even go have it roasted. There are other festival foods as well - even a designated restaurant.

Very good place to have fun and catch fish. This is my 3rd time to come here. Other than fishing, Ice sledding is my favorite.

Marvelous surroundings! There's military service and many people for leisure here (fishing) I love the atmosphere and the music were mostly traditional.

I love everything except the segregation of foreigners and locals... I'm just not sure why that's necessary :( other than that it was a great day
