A very hot day, not too many shaded areas in the park, but its spring time with lots of flowers in bloom. You can start your stamp tour from here. Can get a little busy near the monument. You will find it difficult to get parking, especially on the weekends, but the street parking price is expensive and the area is surrounded by lots of restaurants and cafes.

What an interesting piece of history. If you are visiting Korea, this is a cool place to visit.
They have restrooms at this location. There is a very cool Starbucks nearby. See pictures.

One of the oldest and most historical buildings in all of Korea still standing in its original form. The observatory isn't particularly big, but it really stands out against the surrounding area and is beautiful in its simplicity. Definitely an iconic site well worth visiting if you're in Gyeongsangbuk-do.

Walked to here from the traditional village in March.
It was a beautiful day but the cherry blossom were not flowering yet.
Other than the observatory tower, there are burial mounds around.
Some signs to explain the significance of these historical artefacts would be helpful.

It was interesting to learn that this astrological observatory tower is the first in Asia. While it is one of national treasures, I thought people will not come here to see Chumgsungdae alone, as there is just the tower and a short explanation. But given the nature of the tower, I guess it is what it is, and thankfully, there are other historical sites right next to each other. You can check the tower out, look at tombs and go to national museum altogether as a trip bundle.
