Procedures
Initial consultation + vascular duplex ultrasound
Procedures | This is the process to accurately diagnose the condition of patients visiting the clinic for the first time. A vascular surgeon will have a detailed consultation about your symptoms and perform a visual inspection, then use color duplex ultrasound to check vessel size, reflux locations, and the stage of the condition. If you only want a simple injection treatment, the ultrasound exam can be skipped. |
Duration | 10 minutes |
Recommended For | Patients who have bulging veins on their legs or experience heaviness, swelling, cramping, orvarious uncomfortable symptoms and believe surgery may be necessary |
Sclerotherapy
Details | Injection of a sclerosing agent into spider veins to remove unwanted veins |
Duration | About 5–15 minutes |
Effects | Mostly semi-permanent, but severe cases may require 2–3 treatments |
Recommended For | Small spider veins rather than prominent bulging veins |
Precautions | Swelling at the treatment site that looks like an insect bite will naturally subside within 1–2 days. You may experience nausea, coughing, or dizziness on the day of the procedure, so drink plenty of water that day. Remove the adhesive bandage applied after the procedure when returning home / upon discharge. You may shower and exercise on the day of the procedure. Abstain from alcohol on the day of the procedure. Wear medical compression stockings for one week after the procedure. Itching or pain may persist for several days after the procedure, cold compresses or ice packs can help relieve symptoms. Bruising after the procedure may last as short as 2–3 weeks, or as long as about a month. As the veins disappear, the treated area may become darker green or deep blue, feel firm, or look mottled as the blood coagulates, this is a normal reaction. Depending on your skin’s melanin characteristics, this pigmentation may slowly fade over 6 months to 2 years. |
Varicose vein removal surgery
Details | Methods to treat prominent and advanced varicose veins in the legs Treatments that close or eliminate the affected veins through various procedures, such as directly removing the problem veins, using heat-based treatments, or injecting medication |
Duration | 30 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes to 2 hours (varies depending on severity of symptoms) |
Effects | Mostly semi-permanent, though about 5% may recur |
Recommended For | Cases where veins are already bulging and ultrasound shows reflux from the root vein, making injection-only treatment impossible |
Precautions | After the procedure, you will remain at the clinic for about 3–4 hours for additional recovery before discharge. You will walk out on the same day, you can take a light shower the next day, and it is recommended to wear compression stockings for about 1–2 weeks. If oral medication is prescribed at discharge, take it for about 1–2 weeks. Depending on your condition after the procedure, return visits may be scheduled 2–3 days or about 1 week later to check progress before departure. |
