- A premium traditional culture program where you can experience the hospitality culture of Joseon-era noble households through performances and hands-on activities on the hidden Gwangmudae stage, located on the 9th floor of the N Wing of the Dongdaemun Comprehensive Market New Building.
- Enjoy traditional drinks, refreshments, and a mini exhibition in the White Room, then watch an intimate, 30-seat natural-acoustics salon performance up close in the Black Room.
- The Black Room performance is accompanied by an English docent, so even visitors unfamiliar with Korean traditional culture can follow along and fully enjoy the show.
- After the performance, it continues with a photo time wearing hanbok, gat, and jokduri, plus a hands-on experience with traditional instruments such as the buk (drum) and gayageum, making it a truly immersive cultural experience beyond simple viewing.
- It is about a 5-minute walk from Exit 9 of Dongdaemun Station, making it easy to add to your itinerary along with Dongdaemun shopping or a stroll on the Hanyangdoseong (Seoul City Wall) trail.
[Experience Program]
- STEP 1. Enter the White Room and get ready (20 min)
In a lounge with views of central Seoul and the fortress wall path, enjoy a traditional welcome drink, receive a multilingual guidebook and a photo card of the artists performing that day, and freely browse the mini exhibition.
- STEP 2. Watch the Black Room performance (60 min)
A small-theater performance presented without microphones, using natural acoustics. Experience the “one person, one table” hospitality tradition used to welcome honored guests in Joseon noble households, together with tea and refreshments, close interaction with the artists, and English docent commentary.
- STEP 3. White Room experience and wrap-up (40 min)
Soak in the afterglow of the performance as you take photos wearing traditional outfits and accessories such as hanbok, gat, and jokduri, then enjoy a hands-on session where you can try the buk and gayageum you saw in the performance.
