Synopsis
The story begins with “Youngju,” who opens a small bookstore in Hyunam-dong after putting her life in order. Little by little, people start gathering at the once-quiet bookstore, and Youngju begins a “writing club” with author Hyun Seung-woo and the bookstore’s visitors.
People with different stories share their worries and wounds through writing, and by listening closely to each other, they slowly come to understand themselves and others.
The musical <Welcome to the Hyunam-dong Bookshop> is about the process of accepting life as it is, rather than searching for the one right answer.
Even when the path you’re walking feels uncertain or like you’re doing it wrong, it reminds you that you’re still moving forward at your own pace.
With the warm reassurance of “It’s okay, you’re doing great,” this production offers quiet empathy and comfort to everyone who made it through today.
