HanGru Speaking Club

About
Hanguru Korean is a small private Korean studio in Seoul’s Seongsu-dong that connects Korean speaking lessons with real life in Korea and the local community.
Classes are run in small groups, with careful attention to each student’s level, goals, and speaking habits. We aim for lessons where students and teachers remember each other’s names and goals, and grow steadily together in a close, supportive setting.
Hanguru’s classes focus on spoken Korean you can actually use in everyday life. You will learn and practice expressions you can use right away outside the classroom, like ordering at a cafe, chatting with friends, asking questions about life in Korea, and naturally expressing your own thoughts.
Hanguru also connects your time learning Korean to the experience of living in Seoul. Rather than ending with the lesson, we create opportunities for students to try out what they have learned in real situations through language exchange meetups, cultural experiences, and Seongsu-dong local activities. Students can naturally carry expressions from class into conversations, neighborhood experiences, and cultural activities.
In a warm, close-knit atmosphere that feels different from large institutions, Hanguru supports travelers, international students, and foreign residents who want to learn Korean, helping them build speaking confidence at their own pace and feel more deeply connected to life in Korea.
Why We Recommend It
1. Small-group, speaking-focused classes that are different from large language academies
- Unlike large institutions that teach many students at once, Hanguru is a small Korean language studio that takes a close look at each student’s speaking habits and learning goals. Rather than delivering a set curriculum one-way, it focuses on giving you plenty of practice and feedback so you can actually speak.
2. A local Korean learning experience in Seoul’s Seongsu-dong
- Hanguru is located in Seongsu-dong, a trendy local neighborhood in Seoul. Before and after class, you can enjoy Seongsu-dong’s cafés, pop-up stores, select shops, and local street culture, naturally connecting your Korean study with real everyday life in Seoul.
3. Speaking-centered lessons you can use right away in real life
- Hanguru’s Speaking Club focuses on expressions you can use immediately while living in or traveling around Korea. You’ll practice with real-life topics like ordering at a café, chatting with friends, asking questions about life in Korea, and expressing your thoughts naturally.
4. Flexible switching between morning and evening classes within the same level
- If the class progress is the same within your level, you can switch between the morning and evening class up to twice a month when unavoidable schedule conflicts come up. This is especially helpful if travel, work, or personal plans make it hard to attend at the same time every week. Please note that switching may depend on each class’s pace and remaining seats.
4. Culture-based learning that goes beyond the classroom
- Hanguru Korean isn’t just a place to study Korean inside a classroom, it also values giving you opportunities to use what you’ve learned in real situations. It plans to run a cultural experience program once a month, so students can naturally experience everyday Korean culture, local activities, and conversations with people alongside their Korean classes.
5. A space where classes, cultural experiences, and community connect
- Hanguru runs not only Korean classes, but also language exchange meetups, cultural experiences, and local activities. Students can use the Korean they learned in class through real conversations and experiences, helping it feel more natural.
6. A warm, supportive atmosphere where you can speak comfortably and make mistakes
- When speaking a foreign language, the most important thing is an environment where it’s okay to make mistakes. Hanguru aims to create a warm atmosphere where students can ask questions without pressure, try again even if they get it wrong, and build confidence step by step. Even if you’ve been studying Korean on your own, you can connect with others at Hanguru and keep improving consistently.
