The night visit was so cool and beautiful. There were so many locals, and it was marketed as a foreigners only, yet we were one of the only foreigners. The location to validate the ticket was closed and the guards told us to go to another location, completely on the other side of the entire palace structure, we rushed for nothing as we were just told to wait in the many lines already formed, so that information was sadly incorrect. the visit itself was beautiful, the palace in the night light is just stunning, and the laser show is cool. the small concert was surprising and welcome, too.

Gyeongbokgung Palace is a place I always visit when I come to Seoul.

I usually visit during the day, but because the grounds are so large, I rarely get to see the back of the palace.

This time, an event where you can visit the back area at night happened to coincide with my visit to Korea, so I applied right away.

It said that you must check in one hour before, so I went one hour before, but there was nowhere to kill time after checking in, so I waited in line until the doors opened. If you want to get in early, you can line up at the early check-in counter, but if you don't mind being in line, it's fine to arrive five or ten minutes before.

There are people at the reception who can speak Japanese, so you don't have to worry.

When the gates opened at the appointed time, there were sofas lined up for one person to sit on, and a stage was set up.

As the sun was setting, flutes, dances, gayageum, and other performances were held, and as it got dark, the space became even more fantastical.
The music and dance are played several times, so you can look around first and then go to listen to the music.

There was a wild goat sculpture, and the Koentei Pavilion was floating on the illuminated Koen Pond... it was so beautiful from every angle.

The elegant space was so beautiful that I forgot about time, and I was able to experience it to my heart's content.

At night, the temperature drops and it gets cold, so it's best to dress warmly and bring a hand warmer.

I would like to experience this again if I have the opportunity.

The northern area of Gyeongbokgung Palace is lit up at night, which you can't see during the normal nighttime illumination.
Until now, this was the only experience I could get at the Starlight Night Walk, where you take a nighttime stroll while enjoying royal cuisine, so this was a very exciting event.
During the Starlight Night Walk, you walk to the illuminated palace by the light of paper lanterns, but the entire north side was lit up. (The viewing area is smaller than with the Starlight Night Walk.)
There was also a performance of traditional Korean music. It was very beautiful.

It was such an amazing night visit of the Palace. The traditional performances gave a special vibe to the program. Also the lightening and the whole atmosphere is just extraordinary at night.
