Donggureung

Donggureung (東九陵) means 'nine tombs in the east', and it is the largest royal tomb of the Joseon Dynasty where seven kings and ten queens have been laid to rest for about 450 years. It is a place where you can see all the royal tombs from the early to late Joseon period, including single tombs built for kings or queens, double tombs built side by side, Dongwon Igangreung with tombs built on different hills with a shared pavilion, Hapjangreung where a king and queen are buried together in one tomb, and Samyeonreung where a king and two queens' tombs are built side by side in various forms.

Namyangju Hongyureung

Hongyureung is the tomb where two kings and queens of the Joseon Dynasty are buried. It is the resting place of King Gojong, Queen Myeongseong, King Sunjong, and Queen Sunmyeonghyo. Here, you can directly experience the final history of the Joseon Dynasty, deeply immerse yourself in traditional Korean architectural styles and royal culture. Additionally, located in a lush forest, during autumn, the scenery of the leaves turning golden is very impressive. Walking through here, you may feel like you are traveling back in time to the past.
