Gyeongbokgung Starlight Night Tour

As night falls over Gyeongbokgung Palace, explore parts of the palace that are normally quiet after dark on the Gyeongbokgung Starlight Night Tour.

The experience begins at Sojubang, the palace’s former royal kitchen, where you’ll enjoy Doseok Surasang, a modern recreation of a traditional royal meal once served to honored guests.

After dinner, follow a professional guide through the northern grounds of the palace. Visit Jibokjae, King Gojong’s private library, and continue toward Hyangwonjeong Pavilion and Chwihyanggyo Bridge, where you can enjoy a live performance of traditional Korean court music.

It’s a rare chance to experience Gyeongbokgung after dark through food, history, architecture, and music.

“Doseok” is an old Korean word for a lunchbox. Doseok Surasang is a modern interpretation of the finest everyday 12-dish royal meal once served to the king and queen of Joseon, presented neatly in tiered containers.

While enjoying Doseok Surasang, you can also experience a Korean traditional music performance and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the royal court.

• Tier 1: Lotus root salad, salted pollack roe, baekseungyeo, and oi musongsongi
• Tier 2: Seasoned laver flakes, grilled deodeok, pan-fried tofu, and mushroom japchae
• Tier 3: Rice, zucchini and shrimp pancake, mung bean pancake, and braised chicken with vegetables
• Tier 4: Pomegranate-shaped dumpling soup
• Flower Side Dish: Seoryajeok
• Dessert: Mini yakgwa, three-colored rice cake, rice gangjeong, and persimmon sujeonggwa

Vegetarian Surasang

• Tier 1: Lotus root salad, soybeans glazed with honey, baekseungyeo, and oi musongsongi
• Tier 2: Seasoned laver flakes, grilled deodeok, seasoned chwinamul, and mushroom japchae
• Tier 3: Rice, sweet potato pancake, mung bean pancake, and braised tofu with vegetables
• Tier 4: Pomegranate-shaped dumpling soup
• Flower Side Dish: Braised shiitake mushrooms
• Dessert: Mini yakgwa, three-colored rice cake, rice gangjeong, and persimmon sujeonggwa

After the meal, explore the northern grounds of Gyeongbokgung Palace with a professional guide.

Visit Jagyeongjeon, once the queen dowager’s quarters; Janggo, where you will hear the story of Janggo Mama; Jibokjae, King Gojong’s library; and Geoncheonggung, where the story of King Gojong comes to life.

Cross Chwihyanggyo Bridge and take in the illuminated night view of Hyangwonjeong Pavilion, a completely different atmosphere from the daytime.
