This is a unique chance to enter the terrace area to have some late afternoon tea and enjoy a live music performance. I went to Seokjojeon once to listen to the regular Korean guide before. The explanation of the history in this event was a bit shorter compared to the regular one - however, it still provided an overall view of the history of the Joseon dynasty. On top of that, you get to sit on the terrace and enjoy some sweets and close out with a brief musical at the reception hall.

The special tour with commentary showed the historical value of the entire Seokjojeon Hall, its interior, the rooms that were actually used, and the elegant tea ceremony and music on the terrace, which reminded us of the era when the palace was changing to Western style and adopting Western culture. After enjoying the tea and sweets, we watched a musical about Gojong, Empress Myeongseong, and the Crown Prince. The commentary up to that point was in English, but the musical was in Korean! I feel comfortable in Korean, so I was moved to tears while watching the performance. It was wonderful and I witnessed history and culture, and I would like to book this event again if it is held again.

It's a lovely tour and I recommend it. It was great to see Doeksogung at night and get some information about the king (who called himself emperor), have tea and watch a performance.

I went to the museum for free on the cultural day that happens once a month (the last Wednesday of the week). There are many people looking around and taking a walk during lunch, and it is well preserved.
