It is a temporary palace built at the foot of Paldalsan Mountain in Suwon in 1789 (13th year of King Jeongjo's reign) under the order of King Jeongjo of the Joseon Dynasty, and is designated as Historic Site No. 478. Haenggung (行宮) is a place where the king temporarily stays when traveling around the region, or where a separate palace is prepared in the region for purposes such as war, recreation, and tomb visits. Hwaseong Temporary Palace has 576 rooms and is said to be the largest temporary palace of the Joseon Dynasty. In normal times, it was used as the Hwaseong Yusubbu government office, and it is said that King Jeongjo stayed here when he visited and oversaw events such as civil service exams. Due to Japan's policy of destroying history, all facilities except the Naknamheon building were damaged and disappeared. To commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Hwaseong Fortress, the first stage of restoration work began in 1996, and it was opened to the public in October 2003. I visited for the first time after frequently driving along the road in front of Haenggung Palace. The inside of the palace is much larger than it looks from the outside, and there are many pavilions tightly packed together. Human-shaped dolls were installed throughout the building to show life in the past, so it was fun and satisfying to watch. We hope that buildings and facilities that have not yet been restored will be restored as soon as possible.

Haenggung Palace had a different feel. I really felt the Korean sensibility. I thought it would be perfect to organize a trip to Suwon by visiting the Haenggung Palace, seeing the Suwon Museum of Art, Haengridan-gil, the cafe street in Haenggung-dong, and seeing the Hwaseong Fortress Wall.

It was really really pretty. Should I say it's a tradition in the city... haha. Whether it's the reeds or the silver grass around, it was really pretty. The pine trees were also so beautiful, and if I had time, I would definitely want to take a walk around here. If you go to Suwon, I definitely recommend going!
