Are you planning on coming to Korea during the Lunar New Year holiday season in 2024? Keep in mind that South Korea has a four-day holiday at that time called Seollal from February 9th to February 12th, so some businesses may be closed or have different operating hours.
We've compiled a list of public holiday information for the 2024 Lunar New Year season. The information provided is for bigger businesses and department stores. For smaller, individual businesses, the hours may differ so it's best to check that information on your own.

2024 Korean Lunar New Year (Seollal)
Friday, February 9, 2024 (Lunar New Year's Eve) to Monday, February 12, 2024 (Third Day of the Lunar New Year)
The 2024 Korean Lunar New Year holiday, or Seollal, is a widely celebrated holiday in Korea, and many public agencies and companies will be on vacation.
Most tourist areas will still be open throughout the entire holiday season, with the exception of most businesses being closed on the actual day of Seollal (Feb 10th). From Tuesday, February 13th, South Korea will resume normal work and school hours.

Most stores start their holiday from Lunar New Year's Eve on February 9, 2024, but most will be closed on the first and second day of the weekend, and then will resume normal operations from Monday.
Popular tourist attractions such as Nami Island, Petite France Village, N Seoul Tower, Lotte Tower, Everland, Lotte World, etc., are all open year-round! As for general stores, most of them will be closed on the first day of Lunar New Year (February 10, 2024), but it is uncertain how long they will be closed.
