In February, South Korea experiences a gradual transition from the deep cold of winter toward the milder conditions of early spring. The average temperatures often range from -6°C to 5°C (21°F to 41°F), with the northern regions and mountainous areas remaining colder. Although the intense cold of January eases, February still brings crisp days, particularly in the mornings and evenings.

The weather is generally drier this month, reducing the likelihood of heavy snow, but light snow showers can still occur, especially in the first half of the month. The reduced precipitation and clearer skies often result in more sunny days, which, combined with less wind than January, can make daytime activities more pleasant.

Towards the end of February, the first signs of spring begin to appear, particularly in the southern parts of the country. The days gradually start to lengthen, and the frequency of subzero temperatures diminishes, setting the stage for the milder months ahead. This period also sees a decrease in the usage of heating and an increase in outdoor activities as residents and visitors alike start to enjoy the slightly warmer weather.

If you're visiting South Korea in February, it's advisable to prepare for the cold with suitable clothing, as temperatures can feel chillier due to the wind and humidity. The month is also part of the low tourist season, except in ski resort areas, which can be quite lively due to winter sports activities

In February, temperatures in South Korea remain chilly, particularly at the start of the month. You'll want to begin with a thermal base layer, followed by a cozy sweater or fleece, and top it off with a sturdy, insulated winter coat when heading outside. However, as late February approaches, the weather gradually warms up, so you might consider lighter layers that can be easily adjusted to suit the shifting climate.

Indoors and on public transport, heating is typically very effective, allowing for more flexibility in your indoor attire. While heavy accessories like scarves and gloves might be necessary early in the month, you can opt for lighter options as the month progresses. Remember, comfort in cold weather can be highly personal, so adjust your layers based on how you feel.
