November Weather in Korea

November in South Korea marks a noticeable shift into the colder months, with temperatures dropping significantly, especially as the month progresses. While early November can still have mild days with temperatures reaching around 10–15°C (50–59°F), the evenings and early mornings can feel much colder, often dipping below 5°C (41°F). By late November, the cold intensifies, with daytime highs frequently staying below 10°C (50°F) and lows approaching freezing, around 0–3°C (32–37°F).

As the temperature difference between day and night becomes more pronounced, layering becomes essential. Make sure to bring a warm coat, as well as hats, gloves, and scarves for the evenings.

  • Seoul: 3 °C – 11 °C (37 °F – 52 °F)
  • Busan / Jeju: 8 °C – 16 °C (46 °F – 61 °F)

Temperatures drop steadily throughout the month, with the second half feeling much colder than the first.

🌧️ Rain & Sunshine

  • November is one of the driest months of the year.
  • Average rainfall: around 50 mm across 8–10 days.
  • Expect mostly clear skies and shorter daylight hours (about 10 hours of daylight per day).

❄️ First Snow in Seoul

  • First snow in Seoul typically falls in late November or early December, but in some years, flakes appear as early as the last week of November.

In 2024, Seoul saw its first snowfall on November 27, so you might catch an early one this year too!

🧣 What to Wear (See section below for more information)

  • The key is layering rather than one heavy coat.
  • Start with a warm base layer, add a sweater or fleece, and top it with a padded jacket or long coat.
  • Indoor heating is strong in Korea, so you’ll want to be able to remove layers easily when inside.

November in South Korea is ideal for layering clothes. Jackets are essential, with options ranging from regular short jackets to long coats, along with accessories like hats and scarves. These layers make it easy to stay comfortable in November’s variable temperatures, so you won’t have to worry about being too hot or too cold during your visit.

As for wearing a down jacket, it depends on personal preference. Generally, early November doesn’t require one, but by late November, as temperatures continue to drop, those sensitive to the cold may find a down jacket helpful.
