However, it's important to note the significant temperature variation between day and night.

By the end of March, South Korea has nearly completed its seasonal transition, marked by the gradual blooming of cherry blossoms from south to north, officially heralding the arrival of spring.

What to Wear in South Korea: March Edition

Korea starts to warm up in late March, marking the end of a long winter with blooming flowers. March often features gloomy days and significant temperature fluctuations. By April and May, temperatures steadily rise, averaging 22°C (72°F), making it an ideal time to experience Korea's spring beauty.

Spring weather in Korea is quite variable, with frequent rainfall. Layered dressing is recommended; a warm jacket and long pants are essential in early March. By April, the weather improves, though occasional rain and temperature drops may still occur.

Despite this, it's crucial to stay prepared for sudden bursts of cold days. The chart indicates that while spring begins in March, several unexpectedly cold days can still occur. Therefore, it's wise not to let your guard down. Packing an extra jacket for your trip to Korea is certainly a smart choice.

Travel News

South Korea Introduces E-Arrival Card to Streamline the Arrival Process.

The E-Arrival Card is for travelers who are exempt from the K-ETA but still need to submit arrival information before entering South Korea.

Who Needs the E-Arrival Card?

  • Travelers from the 22 countries exempt from K-ETA (e.g., USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Japan, etc.).
  • Foreign nationals entering Korea without a visa.
  • Not required for Korean citizens, registered foreigners (ARC holders), or those entering on specific long-term visas.

Why is it Needed?

Before the introduction of the E-Arrival Card, all travelers had to fill out a physical arrival card upon entry. Now, those exempt from K-ETA can digitally submit their arrival information before travel.

How to Apply?

  • Online: Submit via the official E-Arrival Card website (www.k-eta.go.kr).
  • Mobile App: Use the K-ETA app before departure.
  • Processing Time: Instant confirmation.
  • Fee:Free (unlike the K-ETA).

Who Doesn’t Need an E-Arrival Card?

  • Those already required to get a K-ETA.
  • Korean passport holders or registered foreign residents (ARC holders).
  • Travelers entering Korea with long-term visas.

If you're traveling from a K-ETA-exempt country and want a smoother entry, submitting the E-Arrival Card before arrival helps avoid filling out paper forms at immigration.

Power banks (portable batteries) and e-cigarettes must be carried on your person or in under-seat storage when boarding Korean airlines.

Recent regulations by South Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, effective from March 1, 2025, mandate that:

  • Power banks and e-cigarettes are prohibited from being stored in overhead cabin compartments.
  • These items must be kept on the passenger's person or in under-seat storage during the flight.
  • Charging these devices on board is strictly prohibited.

These measures were implemented following an incident where an Air Busan aircraft caught fire, suspected to have been caused by a lithium battery in an overhead bin.

For detailed guidelines, refer to the official announcement by South Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport.
