Our Visit

Seoulloin is nestled in Gangnam N and represents ‘Seoul Sirloin Dining’, symbolizing the sirloin of Seoul. Soul Gil, originating from the historic Seoul Station, encapsulates the elegance of the timeless traditions that Seoul has cherished through the ages. Initially, I presumed the business name was in English, but it transpires it’s written in Chinese characters. I had no idea it possessed such profound significance!

f you go to the entrance, the interior that reminds you of old history already had a unique atmosphere.

The fusion of Green and Wood enhances the store's ambiance, lending it an additional layer of elegance.

Venturing a bit further inside, you'll find seating suitable for groups. It's said to be a popular gathering spot for office workers. If it’s frequently visited by Korean office professionals, you can bet the taste is guaranteed!

I made a reservation and was guided directly to the designated seat. The cutlery was set according to the number of people.

The traditional pattern drawn on the wood in the center of the table serves as an induction cover. While it's functioning as an induction cover, placing a dish on top still allows for a beautifully presented picture!

We plan to indulge in the Dinner Signature Couple Course today. While awaiting the menu, my attention was drawn to the menu board. Its black color palette adds a modern, hip touch to the otherwise traditional ambiance. Contained within, there was fascinating written history about Seoul Line that made for an intriguing read.

I was perusing the menu when a staff member approached and presented the ingredients to be used today. She explained each ingredient and described where it would be utilized. Presenting it in this manner made it more credible and built anticipation.

After a brief wait, the appetizer was served. Starting with black sesame porridge and moving clockwise, we had chicken feet Pyeonyuk, Anda Dive Salad, Yukhoe, nokdu jeon, kimbugak, and a bulgogi wrap, with a corn tart at the center. The black sesame porridge was nutty yet light, and every dish, from the tangy beef tartare to the succulent beef brisket, was delightful.

In particular, I experienced unique flavors not found elsewhere, like the fresh bulgogi ssam, nokdujeon, and gimbugak. The sweet corn tart truly tantalized my taste buds.

Next, we were served Gamtae. Atop the gamtae was yukhoe sushi, and crowning that was nureunji twigim.

As shown in the photo, I rolled it up and popped it into my mouth in one bite—it was a harmonious blend of tender yukhoe, sweet gamtae, and savory nulungji jeon. The inclusion of the fried rice cakes seemed like a stroke of culinary genius!

Next, scallops seasoned with cheonggyul sauce were served. The tangy green tangerine sauce and vinegar create an appealing taste, sure to be enjoyed by those who favor refreshing flavors. The texture of the scallops was pleasantly chewy, and their flavor was pure, free of any off-putting odor.

The Dinner Signature Couple Course allowed a choice between Yukhoe and Yukjeon, so the two of us each selected one. Yukhoe features a spicy sauce grounded in gochujang, and it’s paired with minari. The minari effectively balances the richness of the yukhoe and the bitterness of the egg yolk, making for a delightful combination.

The Yukjeon had a delicate texture, and the addition of Buchu on top introduced a savory note to the softness, creating a pleasant flavor harmony.

The next dish served is named Gangjeong. This dish consists of deep-fried black tiger prawns, diced and fried along with perilla leaves and is topped off with an anchovy sauce. The succulent texture of the shrimp was prominent and harmonized beautifully with the gentle nutty flavor of the perilla leaves.

After savoring the Kangjeong, I promptly enjoyed Haesintang. This dish, a particular delight to my palate, featured steamed abalone, beef tripe, and mung bean rice. The transparent, soothing broth emanating from the concoction was calming to my senses. Even those who are sensitive to the aroma of meat can savor this dish with delight.

The centerpiece of Korean cuisine, Hanwoo, has finally been served. From left to right, there's tenderloin, ribeye, and chuck flap tail. The staff recommended enjoying them in that sequence.

There’s the perk of being able to grill it yourself. Especially since it’s Hanwoo, the preferred level of doneness varies, so having the ability to personally grill and adjust it was a nice touch.

The premium grade 1++ Hanwoo beef was phenomenal, melting in my mouth at the first bite, exhibiting exceptional quality with the richness of the meat juices. The savory flavor from the marbling of the Hanwoo beef was delectable, and the chewy texture added a pleasing touch.

At Seoulloin, a variety of traditional Korean liquors are also available. The establishment, adorned with traditional Korean interiors, perfectly complements the authentic cuisine, making it almost obligatory to savor traditional liquor! This particular one, infused with pear and ginger, is among the three renowned liquors of the Joseon Dynasty and has been produced since its mid-period. Served in traditional glasses, these time-honored drinks taste even more delightful.

The pairing of meat with milmyeon, complemented by traditional liquor, each with its unique allure, tastes even more exquisite when enjoyed together. Plus, every photo taken is guaranteed to be picture-perfect!

You have the option to choose between Water Millmyeon and Bibim Millmyeon, so I ordered one of each. The Water Millmyeon, with its melt-in-your-mouth noodles, was particularly appealing due to its delicious broth, crafted from traditional Korean ingredients. The broth featured a hint of toasted sesame oil, adding a savory aroma that tantalized my taste buds! If you're in the mood for something with a bit of a kick, I recommend trying the Bibim Millmyeon. The pepper flavor is prominent and melds beautifully with the sauce. However, the Millmyeon does have a distinctive ingredient, giving it a pronounced cinnamon flavor. If you’re not a fan of cinnamon, please keep this in mind!

Then the meal with rice was served. It consisted of nutritious rice, minced beef seaweed soup, and side dishes, all presented neatly. Among the courses that best showcased the essence of Korean cuisine, I was particularly fond of the rich flavor of the Hanwoo seaweed soup.

We found it incredibly delicious—especially the cucumber side dish and the stir-fried anchovies—even though I was already full.

Finally, I wrapped up the meal with a delightful dessert—sweet vanilla ice cream sprinkled with cinnamon and powdered yulmu, accompanied by sweet fruits and rich crystal syrup. Especially when combined with injeolmi and red beans, the ice cream offered a chewy and savory texture, adding to the enjoyment. The Dinner Course at Seoulloin is a highly satisfying and delightful experience, thanks to its well-balanced composition, the tender texture and juiciness of the Gangnam beef, and the meticulous presentation of traditional Korean dishes. Additionally, we at Seoulloin would be thrilled if you could bring along a bottle of premium college liquor. If you're looking to savor authentic traditional Korean cuisine in Seoul, make your way to the Seoulloin Gangnam N branch immediately. We guarantee a thoroughly satisfying dining experience!
