Due to recent increases in COVID-19 cases in Korea, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters stated that it will continue to maintain the 7 day quarantine requirement for people that have been infected with COVID-19. At this moment, South Korea remains open for tourists and travel. Up to this time, travelers and those entering the country were required to take a PCR test within three days upon arrival. However, these measures will be tightened and the new regulation will be within one day upon arrival (same day).

The requirement to complete the PCR within one day will be implemented starting on July 25, 2022.

At the same time, in order to improve the convenience of those that are entering, Gimpo Airport has added a PCR testing station since June of this year.

From July, 25, PCR tests must be completed within 1 day of entry. The government also recommends overseas arrivals to wait for confirmation at home and avoid going out before the test results come out. If you test positive, you need to isolate for 7 days. Koreans and long term visa holders can be quarantined at their own homes while short-term visa holders are required to self-quarantine at designated locations.

In addition, before entering South Korea, it is necessary to fill in the Q-Code to record your quarantine status. It is also linked with health centers and medical institutions, and is a function that can register the inspection results as well.

For those that are visiting Korea soon, PCR tests can be done at your own expense at Incheon Airport and general medical clinics at their own expense.
