Easy Peasy Spring Nails From Olive Young 2021
Getting nails done at a salon can be time consuming and expensive. So why not try nail stickers or press-on nails from Olive Young?
We all want flawless nails like a Korean idol, right?
But getting nails done at a salon can be so expensive. In Korea, the average price for getting gel nails at a salon is about 40,000-50,000 won (approx. 35.80-44.74 USD).
Also, with COVID-19, it can be slightly unnerving to sit at a salon with other people.
But not to worry, today we want to share some cheap (under 10,000 won) and easy gel nail options you can try at home!
We also want to share some popular designs amongst young adults in Korea. So now you can channel your inner Kpop idol.
Nail Stickers
Nail stickers are great if you want colorful and elaborate designs, but lack the artistic ability or the patience to wait for the paint to dry.
These are thin stickers that are safe to attach to your nails. Generally, the price varies with quality, but you can find some nail stickers as cheap as 1,000 won (approx. 0.90 USD)!
When we were scoping out Korea's health and beauty store, Olive Young, most of the nail stickers were about 9,900 won (approx. 8.87 USD).
Nail stickers are quick and easy to apply so they are great for all ages.
Press-On Nails
If you are looking for something more sturdy, then press-on nails are for you! There is an assortment of sizes so you can choose the best fit for your nails.
The adhesive is strong, but not too damaging to your nails. They are easy to attach, and you can trim/file them to the length and shape you desire!
Prices vary according to brand and quality, but at Olive Young, they were about 9,900 won (approx. 8.87 USD).

Basic Nails

For those who are looking for simple nails, this style is the best. Since it is just one tone, it is not too flashy and suitable in various circumstances.
In Korea, the most popular basic nails are any pastel and/or nude colors.
Pastels are great if you are looking for some pop of color, but if you are looking for something that is easy to pair with any outfit, you may want nude tones.
These simple colors are sure to look great on anyone!
Mixed Pattern Nails

This style is fun and eye-catching, but can also be very elegant. You can also see in the above photo that Blackpink's Rosé has also been seen sporting nails with mixed patterns.
A common way to rock this style is to combine patterned nails with one or two other simple colors. This way it is simple and decorative.
Color Gradient Nails

A style that has been rising in popularity is a color gradient! Lately, you can find color gradients in clothes, logos, and of course, nails.
These nails are vibrant and great if you are looking to make a statement.
Since there can be assorted colors, you can color-coordinate your clothes easily.
Jewel-Studded Nails

For those looking for something flashy, jewel-studded nails are for you!
These nails can definitely be the highlight of your outfit.
The jewels on the nail stickers are embossed, so you don't have to worry about a jewel falling off.
As for the press-on nails, the jewel is firmly attached. These nails look just as fancy as nails done at a salon but at a fraction of the price!
Nail Sticker Review
Now that we have discussed the various type of nails, you may be wondering how are they actually? Press-on nails are fairly straightforward but how do the nail stickers work?
Well, we selected and bought a set of nail stickers.
Since it is spring, our nail stickers were yellow, with silver glitter and small flower-like designs.
Inside the nail sticker pack, there are nail stickers, a small nail file, and instructions.
The instructions are in Korean, but there are also pictures. The pictures are easy to follow along, so you don't have to be an expert in Korean to apply these nails! Seems simple right?
Press on the appropriately sized sticker to your nail according to the orientation indicated in the instructions.
Use the file to trim off any excess like shown in the photo above. Protip, if the sticker is too long, trim some with nail clippers before filing for a cleaner shape.
Doesn't it look great? One of our friends thought our nails were professionally done!
Ta-da! The final result (of one hand done).
In the photo above you can compare our nails with and without the nail stickers.
You can really see the difference that these stickers make!
Pictured above is the full set of nails! Aren't they so fun?
These stickers are so convenient. It took us about 30 minutes to apply.
Also, would you believe this was this editor's first time applying these nail stickers? We really wanted to show how pretty and easy these stickers are.
