The life and poetry of Heo Nanseolheon, a genius poetess of the Joseon era, are brought to life in a ballet performance in her hometown, Gangneung. The performance, titled 'Heo Nanseolheon Suwol Gyeonghwa', has been reimagined seven years after its initial debut, now incorporating media art. The title 'Suwol Gyeonghwa', meaning 'Moon reflected in water, flowers in a mirror', reflects the beauty and elusiveness of her poetry. It captures the poignant life of Heo, who, despite her talent, faced difficulties being recognized as a woman artist in her time. Using dynamic movements and visual art, the performance narrates her tragic life, concluding with the haunting image of 'Buyong Flower', echoing her untimely death at 27. This production, supported by Gangneung’s tourism initiative, highlights collaboration between national and local art organizations.
