On October 11th, Yoo In-chon, the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Korea, emphasized the need for developing diverse travel products to rejuvenate tourism in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions. This comes in the aftermath of an accident involving Jeju Air at Muan Airport that led to decreased tourist activity. The government plans to actively support these efforts, though reopening Muan Airport and international flights at Gwangju Airport currently face delays due to regulatory challenges. Various initiatives like extending loan repayment periods and promoting local travel through special programs are part of the strategy to attract more tourists and mitigate existing losses.
