Korean Minister Urges Diverse Tourism Programs in Gwangju and Jeonnam

Korean Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Yoo In-chon, advocated for creating diverse travel programs to boost tourism in the Gwangju and Jeonnam (Jeollanam-do, a province in South Korea) region. Due to impacts from an airline accident, he encouraged both public entities and private companies to attract local tourists. The ministry also plans to extend loan repayment periods for affected travel businesses and ensure wider financial support. Additionally, the Minister expressed negativity towards converting the regional Gwangju Airport into an international airport, citing timing and efficacy issues. Efforts also include supporting the restoration project of the Old Jeollanam-do Provincial Office, significant during the May 18th Democratic Movement.
