The South Korean government is advancing urban air mobility (UAM) pilot projects tailored to regional characteristics by providing financial and implementation support. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced its plan to support the commercialization of K-UAM pilot projects with different support models, including budgetary aid and R&D linkage. Notable initiatives include designing vertiports (landing and takeoff stations for aircraft) for tourism routes in Jeju and public projects like wildfire monitoring in Daegu and North Gyeongsang. Additionally, infrastructure support is planned for tourism development in South Jeolla and Gyeongsang provinces, while Seoul metropolitan areas focus on airport shuttle services. Consultations will aid cities like Busan and provinces such as North Chungcheong in project planning. This initiative aims to create UAM services that are practical and impactful for local residents.
