In the first half of the year, the number of South Koreans traveling abroad increased by 3.9% compared to the previous year. This trend is fueled by a growing interest in high-priced luxury travel packages. Despite a decrease in retail sales, demand for premium travel experiences continues to rise, with many opting to spend less on food and other expenses to afford these high-end trips. Travel agencies and retail platforms are capitalizing on this trend by offering extensive and expensive package tours, including South America and Africa, attracting thousands of customers. The sale of mid to high-range travel packages now accounts for over 30% of the market. This marks a shift towards travel as an experiential consumption rather than mere luxury.
