A total of 8.39 million visitors went to the Gangwon East Coast beaches in South Korea this summer, marking an 11.8% increase from the previous year. Notable increases in visitor numbers were reported in several regions, including Gangneung, Donghae, Samcheok, Yangyang, Sokcho, and Goseong. Among 83 beaches on the East Coast, 53 have closed for the season, while 30 beaches, including some in Sokcho and Yangyang, will remain open until the following weekend.
