Due to a harsh cold snap accompanied by heavy snow in early 2023, sales of luxury and functional winter clothing have surged in South Korea. This weather change prompted unexpected high demand for items like premium padded jackets, boots, and other winter accessories, with some retail sectors seeing sales increases of up to 80% compared to the same period last year. Traditionally, winter clothing sales peak in November, but this year saw greater purchases in January and February due to delayed extreme cold weather.
