The cost of key ingredients for Korea’s Jeongwol Daeboreum (a traditional festival) foods has risen due to reduced cultivation areas and abnormal climate changes. Prices for red beans, used in ogokbap (five-grain rice), have increased by 45% from last year. In response, supermarkets are offering imported alternatives from countries like Peru and the United States.
