The Kangwon State National Traditional Music Orchestra, under the direction of Artistic Director Kim Chang-hwan, will hold its 31st regular concert in Taebaek Cultural Arts Center on September 13. This marks the first regular concert held by the orchestra in Taebaek. The performance will feature pieces like 'On the Way to Donghae' and collaborations with performers like singer Joel Ra and Daegum (a Korean bamboo flute) musician Park Yong-kyu. A highlight will be the orchestra's arrangement of music based on 'Chukwon'—a theme from the East Coast Byeolsingut (a shaman ritual). The orchestra will also participate in the National Traditional Music Orchestra Festival in Seoul and the Yeongdong World Traditional Music Expo. Kim Chang-hwan emphasizes the importance of reaching culturally underserved areas in Gangwon Province.
