Opening of Musical 'The Apple of Swimming Pool' Explores Ambition and Rivalry

The musical 'The Apple of Swimming Pool' will be performed at Seoul's National Jeongdong Theater from January 31 to February 12. The show focuses on the intense world of competitive swimming, highlighting the rituals and superstitions athletes rely on to cope. It follows the relationship between two rival 19-year-old swimmers, I Ji-dam and Gook Hyun-seo. After Ji-dam wins a gold medal, seemingly due to Hyun-seo's 'apple jinx', she contemplates exploiting this knowledge. The narrative delves into themes of ambition, rivalry, and emotional growth against the backdrop of sports competition. The roles of Hyun-seo and Ji-dam are portrayed by I Han-byeol, Yoon Ji-woo, Hyo-eun, and Baek Ha-bin. This production is part of the National Jeongdong Theater's initiative to support the re-staging of select plays and performances.
