Japan is experiencing a record-breaking heatwave with temperatures soaring above 40 degrees Celsius. On August 4th, Komatsu City in Ishikawa Prefecture recorded 40.3 degrees Celsius. This heatwave has caused unusual phenomena like bananas growing in greenhouses with temperatures reaching over 40 degrees and humidity at 80%, resembling a sauna. Even food models made from heat-sensitive materials like PVC or wax are melting in display cases, as seen in photos from Fukuoka shared on social media. Japan's July temperatures marked the hottest on record since 1898. Across the country, 98 out of 153 weather stations reported record high average temperatures.
