Gugak Broadcasting presents a special radio series "Oral Recitation Project, Stories to Leave" every month highlighting the lives and artistic worlds of masters and virtuosos in Korean traditional culture. In August, they focus on the prominent Korean composer Lee Geon-yong, through radio and TV broadcasts. Born in 1947 in Pyongannam-do Daedong-gun, Lee developed an interest in music early on influenced by his father. He studied composition at Seoul National University and its graduate school, later graduating from Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts. Lee actively contributed to the advancement of Korean music through various musical groups and institutions, composing numerous pieces that reflect life and communication. Currently, he leads efforts to expand Korean creative music as the head of ARKO's Korean Creative Music Festival Promotion Committee. In the project, they explore his musical journey and philosophy, highlighting his contributions since the 1980s through his notable works.
