The city of Gwangyang in South Korea has launched a project to support tourism products themed around the life and literary legacy of Yoon Dong-ju, a famous Korean poet known for his work 'Sky, Wind, Star and Poem'. The initiative aims to link sites significant to Yoon Dong-ju's life across South Korea, China, and Japan, and attract domestic and international tourists. Eligible candidates include travel agencies offering themed itineraries and individual tourists who visit designated sites both domestically and abroad, stay in Gwangyang for at least one night, dine locally, and share their experiences on social media. Successful applicants can receive a subsidy of 150,000 KRW (approximately 110 USD) per person. This project, part of the local government's commitment to promoting cultural tourism and foreign visitation, highlights essential cultural sites such as Yoon Dong-ju's birthplace in China and memorial sites in Japan.
