Over 380,000 Flock to East Coast Beaches on Last Saturday of July

On July 26th, as a heat wave warning was issued, more than 380,000 people visited beaches on the east coast of Gangwon Province, Korea. This is more than three times the number from the previous Saturday. The daily count of visitors to 83 beaches in cities such as Gangneung, Donghae, Sokcho, Samcheok, Goseong, and Yangyang reached 381,916 by 5:30 PM. Goseong County saw the highest number with 145,100 visitors spread across its 30 beaches, while Gangneung had 123,306 visitors across 18 beaches. The remaining cities and counties averaged 20,000 to 30,000 visitors each.
