Pianist Cho Seong-jin reflects on the 10th anniversary of his victory at the 2015 Chopin International Piano Competition. During an online press conference, Cho shared that he drew inspiration from many encounters over the last decade and continuously worked hard, remaining true to his passion for music. Cho was the first Korean to win this prestigious competition and subsequently signed an exclusive contract with renowned classical label Deutsche Grammophon (DG). Celebrating the 150th anniversary of French composer Ravel's birth, Cho proposed a project to DG, resulting in his new album 'Ravel: The Complete Piano Solo Works,' released after two years. Growing more familiar with Ravel's music during his studies in Paris, Cho aims for audiences to experience Ravel's intellectual and perfectionist musical world through this album. He plans a recital tour in the US, Europe, and Korea, followed by collaboration with the Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Kim Sun-wook, an acquaintance he admires. Cho humbly notes that while he strives for perfect performance, music is open to interpretation without definitive answers.
