Summer Vacation in Korea: Travel Trends and Destinations

A recent survey by the Korea Transport Institute revealed that most Koreans plan their summer vacations between late July and early August, with 84.1% using personal vehicles to travel. Domestic travel remains popular, with the East Coast being the top destination (24.9%), followed by the South Coast, West Coast, Seoul region, and Jeju Island. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport has declared a special traffic period from July 25 to August 10 to manage increased traffic. Measures include increased public transit operations and traffic management on major highways. Weather and safety remain priorities during this period.
