Kim Tschang-Yeul, renowned as the "waterdrop artist," had his beginnings in a humble stable on the outskirts of Paris in 1969. His encounter with water droplets and light inspired his iconic series. Two exhibitions at the Kim Tschang-Yeul Art Museum in Jeju showcase his initial works from the 1970s, illustrating the evolution of his technique from spray to brush painting. These pieces reflect the emotional scars of war and the guilt of survival, themes that dominated Kim's life and work. The exhibit also features the works of Ha Indoo, a fellow artist who shared a close friendship with Kim and whose early works resonate with themes of traditional and Eastern philosophy.
