Local governments in South Korea are organizing various regional festivals and events as the summer holiday season approaches, aiming to boost tourism and consumption. Among the 120 scheduled events during July and August are beach resorts, water activities, and seasonal food festivals. The Boryeong Mud Festival, famous for its natural mud massages and beach access at Daecheon Beach, is well-known internationally. Other festivals include the Hongcheon Sweet Corn Festival in Gangwon, offering local specialties and crafting activities, as well as the Songdo Beach Festival near Incheon for family visitors.
To encourage regional spending, some events provide benefits like local gift certificates, discounted entrance fees, and coupon promotions. The government is also implementing measures to prevent overpricing in accommodations and eating establishments during the holiday season, ensuring a pleasant experience for visitors. Regional festivals like the Hwacheon Tomato Festival and the Dongcheon Glow Festival in Jeollanam-do also contribute to the colorful summer activity lineup.
