The National Agricultural Museum in Suwon, South Korea, presents an exhibition titled "Angbu-ilgu, The Vessel that Holds Abundance." It explores the uses and significance of angbu-ilgu, a traditional Korean sundial shaped like a cauldron, created during the Joseon dynasty in 1434 by the renowned scientist Jang Yeong-sil. These devices helped communities determine the time of day and seasonal changes crucial for agricultural activities. The exhibition showcases 12 different types of sundials, media art, and various celestial tools from East and West that reflect the historical connection between astronomy, agriculture, and philosophical wisdom in Korea. The exhibition runs until September 14th, offering insights into how science and technology have influenced Korean agricultural practices and its cultural significance.
