In Korea, there has been a noticeable increase in the production of large theater plays, influenced by star actors shifting their focus from film to stage due to the impact of movie and drama production slowdowns. This trend includes long-run performances aimed at attracting audiences by leveraging star casting. Currently, two popular plays are running: 'Let the Right One In,' a story about a vampire girl and a bullied boy, and 'Shakespeare in Love,' inspired by the Oscar-winning film. While 'Shakespeare in Love' heavily features well-known star actors, 'Let the Right One In' casts lesser-known, new actors, reflecting different marketing strategies. The productions offer insights into theater's appeal, ticket pricing, and star power in Korea's cultural scene.
