In Seongsu-dong, one of Seoul's trendiest neighborhoods, a unique spot called Seskemensl attracts the MZ generation with its retro appeal. Often referred to as a 'European Old Bar', this artisan charcuterie shop offers a variety of handcrafted hams and sausages paired with wine, evoking the atmosphere of a European alleyway. Charcuterie, a traditional European processed meat product, includes sausages, cured hams, and terrines. Chef Kim Jung-hyun, who studied in Spain, brings his extensive European charcuterie experience from countries like Austria, France, Italy, and Germany to Seoul. Seskemensl prides itself on high-quality, affordable offerings, such as sausages made from locally-sourced pork, cured and smoked carefully to ensure rich flavor. The shop also serves a variety of dishes, such as the Bocky Platter, which features a selection of sausages and can be paired with German beer or white wine. Despite charcuterie traditionally being paired with red wine in Korea, Seskemensl recommends trying it with aromatic German or Austrian white wine for a unique experience.
